Business in Kabale district is at a standstill as the municipality is facing hardships of lack of water as the  National Water and Sewage Corporation (NWSC) has struggled to restore supply for over a week now.
Due to this fact, many residents in the district are forced to walk long distances to look for clean water that they can use at homes and offices.
Waswa Bohali, a hotel owner in Kabale Town says that it has affected them in a way that they are forced to pay other people to get them watch which is very expensive.
Sam Arineitwe, the leader of Kabale Municipality’s Central Division, says lots of people haven’t had enough water for two weeks.
He’s worried that without water, the sewage pipes might break because toilets and urinals need water to work properly.
He’s also worried that not having enough water could make people sick, maybe even with serious diseases like cholera, because it’s hard to keep things clean without water.
Patrick Otim, who manages the water company in Kabale District, knows there’s a problem for the people who use their services. He says the problem happened because the electricity in Kabale kept going on and off, which broke one of their important water pumps.
He says they can only make about 40% of the normal amount of water right now, which isn’t enough for everyone in town. But he promises they’re working hard to fix the problem, and he thinks they’ll have it fixed within the next day.
It’s unusual for Kabale to have such a big problem with water because usually, they have enough for everyone.
