Ugandan Lawmakers serving on the Presidential Affairs Committee want the Directorate of Ethics and Integrity for a substantial budget allocation of Shs1.2 billion towards anti-corruption endeavours. This was prompted by a presentation delivered by Mr Alex Okello, the Permanent Secretary of the Directorate of Ethics and Integrity.

Mr Okello also goes ahead and emphasized that implementing the recommendations derived from these reports could potentially lead to a reduction in corruption.

In the same line, Ms Jessica Ababiku, the Woman MP representing Adjuman district and also Chairperson of the Committee, underscored the necessity for a dedicated session with the Directorate of Ethics and Integrity. This meeting would delve into the emerging patterns of corruption and deliberate on the findings of the aforementioned reports. The objective is to enable lawmakers to make informed decisions regarding the continuation of funding for anti-corruption initiatives in Uganda.

Expressing his concerns, Peter Okot, the MP for Toochi County, questioned whether the funds allocated to combat corruption were proving ineffective against its persistent prevalence. His query highlighted growing apprehensions about the resilience of corruption in the face of monetary interventions.
