A top Minister in the NRM government has deleted a profile picture with President Yoweri Museveni from her social media account X (formerly Twitter) following a stern warning to tread carefully when addressing matters of corruption.

The Minister, who has recently been in the media vowing to join expose the corrupt receiving stern from the Commander in Chief during a cabinet retreat at Kyankwanzi. The President responding to the loud-mouthed Minister said, there are agencies created to investigate and subsequently prosecute the corrupt not her.

Previously, the minister made series of controversial public disclosures about alleged corruption within government ranks. The official, who holds a prominent position in cabinet but has no constituency, was first cautioned by the President during a high-level meeting at State House.

But this official defied her boss and further went ahead to make all sorts of accusations against numerous government officials. The President emphasised that government agencies are designated to investigate and handle allegations of corruption, and public exposure could undermine these processes.

Despite the warning, the official continued to make public statements, using social media to highlight further instances of alleged corruption. In a subsequent cabinet retreat held in Kyankwanzi, the President reiterated his warning, advising the official against airing internal government issues in public forums and specifically cautioning against using social media to comment on corruption.

Sources indicate that the President’s admonishments were intended to preserve the integrity of governmental procedures and maintain public trust in official channels of investigation.Following the retreat, the official made noticeable changes to social media presence.

The profile picture featuring the President was removed, and account description was altered from indicating the ministerial(Hon Minister)role to a more neutral statement to “This is my official account.”

These actions have fuelled speculation about the official’s future in government, particularly given the lack of a parliamentary constituency and the increasing difficulty of securing a ministerial appointment.

Observers suggest that these developments may signal an impending exit from the government for the official, whose continued defiance of Presidential warnings could jeopardize political standing.

The President’s response to this situation reflects a broader commitment to ensuring that allegations of corruption are handled through appropriate channels, thereby safeguarding the credibility and effectiveness of governmental oversight mechanisms.
