Hon. Muhammad Nsereko, a prominent Ugandan politician and lawyer, has officially announced that he will not seek re-election as the Member of Parliament for Kampala Central or contest for the position of Lord Mayor of Kampala.

“I will not be coming back for Kampala Central Member of Parliament seat. I already clearly stated that to the public. A leader is judged by their work,” Hon. Nsereko revealed during an online interview.

Since 2011, Nsereko has served as the independent representative for Kampala Central Division in Uganda’s parliament, building a reputation for his professionalism and dedication to his constituents.

A Remarkable Career in Law and Politics

Born on August 25, 1981, Nsereko’s journey to leadership began with his education at Buganda Road Primary School, where he graduated in 1995. He proceeded to Kibuli Secondary School for middle school, graduating in 1999, and completed his high school education at Kawempe Muslim Secondary School in 2002.

In 2005, Nsereko earned a Diploma in Journalism from the Indian Institute of Business and Management Studies (IIBMS). He subsequently pursued law, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University in 2006, followed by a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre in 2007.

As a registered lawyer and member of the Uganda Bar, Nsereko has practiced law as a partner at Nsereko, Mukalazi, and Company Advocates since 2007. His expertise also led him to serve as the chairman of the Kampala Central Land Committee from 2006 to 2010.

Legacy and Future Prospects

Nsereko’s decision to step away from both the MP seat and potential Lord Mayorship marks the end of an era for Kampala Central’s political scene.

While his future plans remain undisclosed, his contributions to both law and public service are widely acknowledged.

As he leaves active politics, Nsereko’s career serves as a testament to his belief in leadership defined by action and results.

His departure opens a new chapter in Kampala Central’s representation, with the public keen to see who will step into his shoes.
