In a heartfelt Christmas message, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, extended sympathies to those grappling with loss and urged for unity across the nation.

As Uganda prepares for Christmas, Archbishop Kaziimba Mugalu highlighted the absence of loved ones and offered prayers for those who would keenly feel the void during the festivities. In a special mention, condolences were extended to the people of Kumi Diocese for the loss of their inaugural bishop, Bishop Thomas Edison Irigei. The Archbishop appealed for unity among lay and clergy leaders in the diocese during this sensitive time.

The Archbishop expressed gratitude to Christians, churches, and dioceses for their unwavering support at the recently concluded Provincial Annual Youth and Students Conference (PAYSCO). Noting the conference as a pivotal moment of fellowship and learning, he emphasized the importance of bolstering support for youth ministry.

Acknowledging the success of the annual conference for Heads of Educational Institutions in the Church of Uganda, the Archbishop emphasized the significance of good governance in schools and urged church leaders and parents to invest in the betterment of educational facilities for the benefit of all children.

Reflecting on significant events of the year, Archbishop Kaziimba Mugalu highlighted the inaugural Provincial Prayer Convention at Namugongo and commended the participation of various dioceses, emphasizing the role of prayer in the church’s life. The Archbishop expressed gratitude to the team behind these successful events and outlined the theme for the upcoming year, emphasizing the importance of conforming to the truth of God’s word.

Drawing parallels from biblical verses announcing the birth of Jesus, the Archbishop emphasized the significance of the name ‘Jesus,’ which means “the Lord saves.” He urged Ugandans not to rely on themselves for salvation but to embrace Jesus as the savior.

With a heartfelt plea for a national transformation, the Archbishop emphasized the need for individuals and families to recognize their inability to save themselves and to invite Jesus into their lives. He urged for righteousness and holiness within families and the church.

Expressing concern over the impact of divisive actions in the Church, the Archbishop emphasized the need for spiritual leaders to embody servitude, drawing inspiration from the selflessness of Jesus.

Concluding his message, Archbishop Kaziimba Mugalu extended warm Christmas greetings to various dignitaries, including President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, government leaders, and fellow Christian denominations, wishing for a blessed Christmas for all.

The poignant message not only offered solace to those mourning but also called for collective introspection and unity, resonating with the spirit of Christmas in Uganda.
