Blankets & Wine Announces Stellar Line-Up for June Edition

Blankets & Wine, the iconic international music festival celebrating African sounds, culture, and community, has announced the performer line-up for its Kampala, Uganda 2024 edition. Scheduled for Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Lugogo Grounds, this year’s event promises a spectacular showcase of talent from across the continent, featuring musical giants such as South Africa’s Samthing Soweto, Kenya’s Nameless, and Ugandan stars including Eddy Kenzo.

The Live Stage Line-Up:

  • Nameless: The celebrated Kenyan pop artist gained fame in 1999 through a star-search contest on Capital FM with his hit song “Megarider.” Renowned for his dynamic performances, Nameless remains one of East Africa’s top musical stars.
  • Samthing Soweto: Known for his vocals on Sun-El Musician’s “Akanamali” and his chart-topping single “Akulaleki,” Samthing Soweto’s music blends a cappella, soul, Afro-pop, and R&B. His album Isphithiphithi (2019) was certified platinum by the Recording Industry of South Africa.

Supporting Acts:

  • Eddy Kenzo: The Grammy-nominated Ugandan singer and music executive, known for hits like “Stamina” and “Sitya Loss,” brings international acclaim to the stage. Founder of Big Talent Entertainment, Kenzo is also the president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation.
  • Rachel Magoola: A founding member of the legendary Afrigo Band, Magoola is a celebrated Ugandan singer and songwriter. This marks her debut performance at Blankets & Wine.
  • A Pass: Known for his unique sound and lyrical prowess, A Pass has created hits like “Nva Kampala,” “Wuuyo,” and “Didadada,” solidifying his place in the Ugandan music scene.

Emerging Talents: The festival will also highlight emerging artists, including Ebrahim Soul’o, Julius Ssese, and Sandrah K Busoga Princess, ensuring a diverse and vibrant musical experience.

Festival Highlights: Renowned for its meticulously curated live stage, this year’s festival introduces the Onja Onja Stage, a DJ-Producer stage that promises a fusion of live performances and electronic beats, alongside a well-curated food, crafts, and markers market. Additionally, the family zone with kids’ activities and minders returns, ensuring fun for all ages.
