The much-anticipated 2024 Toyota LandCruiser Prado (250 Series) has finally made its debut, in Uganda revealing a robust, boxy design and a host of innovative technologies.
Speaking during the unveiling, Edwin Muhumuza the Country sales Manager at CFAO Mobility said the new addition to the Land Cruiser family marks a significant advancement in the vehicle’s long standing legacy of toughness and reliability.
The Prado 250 series brings modern technology and premium features to Uganda, enhancing its renowned off-road capabilities.
The event that saw, the Toyota Buffalo Rugby team accompany the unveiling on the new machines at Kyadondo Rugby club on Thursday afternoon, Muhumuza said, “The all-new “250” series was created with the role and mission of supporting people’s lives by offering ease of handling based on strong off-road performance.”
The development team set out to return the land cruiser Prado, which shifted towards high-end and luxury over time, to the light-duty model that customers have come to expect. Under the keyword “back to the basics,” they defined the development concept as “The Land Cruiser, a vehicle that supports customers’ daily lives and one they can trust.”
While the team focused on power, luxury and comfort, they also put safety at the forefront with safety airbags to cater for the driver, knees and all passengers in the vehicle. The removable bumper also means if it damaged with the threat of boda bodas and other road users, it can easily be removed to be fixed as opposed to taking the whole car to the garage.
The interior of the new Prado appears to be a huge step-up from the previous Prado. It showcases a digital instrument cluster, a sizeable central infotainment screen, and a blend of modern tech with traditional buttons for temperature and air flow adjustments. The inclusion of a rare and center locking differential enhances traction, while Toyota promises improved off-road performance with better wheel articulation.
Retaining a full-time four-wheel-drive system, the Prado is equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, showcasing its potential for diverse off-road terrains. The inclusion of a front sway-bar disconnect, similar to Jeep’s Rubicon models, enhances off-road wheel articulation, providing a unique feature in its class.
The 2024 Prado will surpass current prices, aligning with the industry trend. Muhumuza revealed the price would range from Three hundred and eighteen million shillings going upwards and added that, “we have also partnered with several banks to offer full financing to acquire this vehicles.” The limited models offer a compelling combination of heritage-inspired design, cutting-edge technology, and off-road prowess.
