Court Urges Ingrid Turinawe To Refrain From Lawless Behaviour

Kampala City Hall Court on Tuesday warned Ingrid Turinawe, a member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Katonga faction, to refrain from lawless behaviour or risk bail revocation.

Turinawe, along with Salimu Kamunye and Shadiya Namubiru, was charged with creating a common nuisance and granted bail with strict conditions.

The trio was accused of participating in an unauthorized procession on Parliamentary Avenue in Kampala, carrying a banner that read “Free Uganda.” They allegedly caused annoyance and obstruction to the public, infringing on their common rights.

Despite denying the charges, they were granted bail upon paying Shs500,000 cash, with their sureties each signing non-cash bail forms of Shs5 million.

The court warned Turinawe and her co-defendants to desist from acts of lawlessness and criminality during their bail period, stating that bail could be revoked at any time for violations. The case was adjourned to April 2, 2025.

Turinawe has been involved in similar incidents. In January 2025, the Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court dismissed common nuisance charges against her and 13 others due to lack of evidence. However, she still faces other common nuisance charges, along with MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda and five others, who were arrested for planning to march to the Kenyan High Commission in Kampala.
