Democratic Party secretary general, Gerard Siranda has launched a scathing attack against DP bloc members whom he described as self-seekers.

“The world judged us but now we have been exonerated. There is a group of people in Ugandan politics who think every time they will create a wave, confuse others and win through this confusion,” Siranda said.

He was speaking during the launch of the party membership registration exercise for the Bunyoro region in Hoima.

DP bloc is a group of Democratic Party members who are opposed to Norbert Mao’s leadership who a few years ago announced a partnership with the National Unity Platform.

On Wednesday, the group announced they were withdrawing their allegiance to NUP after ending their relationship with the party.

Speaking in Hoima, Siranda said whereas Mao warned other political parties against the DP bloc, his warnings were ignored.

“Our leader Mao warned the NUP leadership that the firewood they had taken had insects but they didn’t listen. Now the insects have started biting them. These people(DP bloc) are political failures and confused self-seekers.”

He warned Bunyoro DP members against associating with members of the DP bloc.
