While launching the distribution of hand hoes for Busoga Sub-Region during a ceremony held at Jinja District Headquarters on May 8, 2024, the Minister for Luwero Triangle and Rwenzori Region, Alice Kaboyo, said the 52,746 hand hoes will be distributed to residents.
“The hoes procured by my ministry are part of the initiatives that my ministry has undertaken over the years, including Parish Community Associations (PCAs), micro-projects, the construction of primary school blocks, and the procurement of iron sheets,” Minister Kaboyo said.
She noted that the initiative aims to enhance people’s household incomes while also ensuring the overall socio-economic transformation of the sub-region. She says the exercise will cover all the districts within the Busoga sub-region, adding that the government has also delivered tractors to the region to encourage local residents to engage in commercial agriculture.
“We are committed to working with all the leaders from this region to ensure that our people engage in active production that will raise their household incomes,” said Minister Kaboyo.
Recently, the government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries, embarked on the distribution of handheld tractors in the Lango, Acholi, West Nile, and Teso sub-regions.
