Minister of State Luwero-Rwenzori, Hon Alice Kaboyo has urged the women leaders in Ntungamo District for the great they have done to develop their regions.
The Minister was happy with the leaders in the district for their creative ways of doing good services for their residents.
“I want to thank the Hon (Baata) Kamateneti (Ntungamo District Woman MP) and Hon. Naome Kabasharira (MP Rushenyi County) for befriending so many people and bringing them here to support development here,” said the Minister.
Hon. Kaboyo spoke at a late celebration for Women’s Day in Ntungamo District, arranged by Hon. Kamateneti. She stood in for Mrs. Janet Museveni, the First Lady.
The Women’s Day event was set up by Hon. Baata Kamateneti, who is the Ntungamo District Woman MP.
During the event, the Minister started a fundraiser to finish building Kyizinga Border Hospital. This hospital was planned by the late MP, Hon. John Kazzora, to offer healthcare to the border community. But construction stopped after Kazzora died in the 1990s.
Minister Kaboyo said she felt a strong connection to this project because of her friendship with Kazzora.
She shared that when her father passed away in 1988, Kazzora supported her and even walked her down the aisle when she got married.
At the event, the Minister officially launched a fundraiser for the completion of Kyizinga Border Hospital. The hospital was envisioned by the late area MP Hon. John Kazzora, to provide much-needed healthcare services to the border community. However, construction was halted following his death in the 1990s, to this date.
Minister Kaboyo said she had a personal attachment to this project because of her relationship with the late Kazoora.
Minister Kaboyo gave 5 million shillings for building the hospital, and her office added another 5 million. She pledged to collect 10 million more from her family.
Hon. Kamateneti heard about the hospital project from district leaders and asked the First Lady for help. Mrs. Museveni gave 50 million shillings, brought by Minister Kaboyo.
Hon. Alice Kaboyo and other MPs led the fundraising for the hospital, which was started by the late Hon. John Kazoora.
Hon. Naome Kabasharira complained that Ntungamo district is too big, making it hard to give services. She suggested splitting it into smaller districts like Sheema or Kitagwendwa to improve roads and services.
Many people came to celebrate International Women’s Day in Kyizinga parish, Ntungamo District.
The L C 1 Chairman of Kyizinga said they need better phone network, especially because Kyizinga is at the Uganda-Rwanda border. He asked for an MTN mast to be installed.
