Uganda Cricket Cranes Registers First Win Of T20 World Cup 2024

Uganda Cricket Cranes have registered their first win of the T20 World Cup 2024, against Papua New Guinea (PNG), at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

Cricket Cranes won by three wickets with ten balls remaining (UGA 78/7, PNG 77). The game was played on Thursday, June 6, 2024, and the Cricket Cranes won the toss and decided to field first.

Frank Nsubuga, 43, bowled the most economical four overs in T20 World Cup history, with two wickets costing four runs.

Riazat Ali Shan nudged 33 from 56 balls, which sparked celebration in the Uganda camp and among their supporters in Florida.

Brain Masaba, the captain of the Cricket Cranes, said that he was proud of his teammates.

“I’m super proud of this group of guys. I mean, they have put in the work; they have put in such a shift to get a win for their country at the World Cup, which is very, very special,” Masaba said.

In addition, Masaba said that qualifying for the World Cup was special, but the win was even more special.

The Uganda Cricket Crickets suffered a defeat in their first game against Afghanistan by 125 runs.

Uganda is in Group C with Afghanistan, Papua New Guinea (PNG), New Zealand, and the West Indies.

The West Indies is co-hosting the championship with the United States from June 1–29, 2024.
