UPC’S Aguti Sarah Voted As Replacement For Deceased Cecilia Ogwal

The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party candidate Aguti Sarah has been declared the winner of the Dokolo District by-elections.

Aguti Sarah replaces Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal, the former Dokolo District Woman Member of Parliament who died on 18th January 2024.

Aguti was declared the winner of the elections from Dokolo District Local Government Council Hall by the Dokolo district returning officer Erikwaine Ngobi. She garnered 23,044 of the total votes cast defeating her closest rival Janet Adongo of NRM who got 14001 votes.

47,169 voters participated in the elections. A total of 49 votes were spoiled.

Aguti Sarah says that she will work towards developing the people of Dokolol as it was Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal’s wish.

Justice Simon Byabakama, the Electoral Commission Chairperson applauded the voters and candidates for upholding peace and tranquillity during the elections.
