Suspended Rubaga Resident City Commissioner, Anderson Burora said before his suspension, he was asked to choose between losing his job and apologizing to Speaker Anita Among and he went for the first option.
“ It’s not about the office or job as madam Anita thought, It’s about the service. I had all the options to choose the Job or to remain true to my conscience. I chose the latter,” Burora said.
He was on Monday speaking shortly after handing over office to the Kampala Central RCC, Doreen Keita.
Burora was last week suspended from his duties as the Rubaga RCC over his comments against the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among.
Burora was accused of criticizing Among over her “extravagant” expenditures together with that of parliament.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Presidency, Hajji Yunus Kakande wrote to Burora asking him to hand over office as part of his suspension.
Speaking to Daily Monitor over the weekend, Burora said he was asked to apologise to the speaker but he refused, leading to the suspension.
On Monday, Burora insisted that he wont be stopped by anyone.
“ In my tour of duty, there are those that I didn’t satisfy for one reason or the other, but majorly, I served the way I was supposed to do. I may not be able to measure my legacy, as a representative of the President, but I’m sure there is no single day that I didn’t represent him to the best of my knowledge.”
